Douzelage Association in Chojna

Signposts for conscious career choices

In June 2019, a youth exchange took place as part of the Erasmus+ project "Signposts for Global Career Choices," coordinated by the Douzelage Association in Chojna in cooperation with the Secondary School Complex in Chojna. Eight partner organizations participated in the project: Tryavny from Bulgaria, Koszeg from Hungary, Turi from Estonia, Agros from Cyprus, Marsaskali from Malta, Rokiskis from Lithuania, Holstebro from Denmark, and Chojna.

The first day featured team-building games and presentations, with each country presenting a different project participant. This allowed participants to learn about the cultures of the partner countries. Participants were tasked with gathering information from peers in the same age group on work-related questions.

On the second day, this information was presented and discussed during a presentation of survey results. Entrepreneurship was also discussed. Our partners also participated in a city game in Chojna. This event was followed by a shooting competition between representatives of the respective countries.

During the project, a meeting with the mayor was also held at the Chojna City and Commune Office. Participants presented the project's goals and discussed the needs of young people in our city.

On Wednesday, further classes were held, featuring presentations on how to start your own business in partner countries. This was followed by workshops to identify the areas Chojna needs. In the evening, a tourist trip to Szczecin took place.

Czwarty dzień skupiał się na zajęciach z doradcą zawodowym, podczas których były omawiane mocne i słabe strony oraz preferencje zawodowe. Uczestnicy napisali listy do władz lokalnych partnerów projektu dotyczące problemów zatrudnienia wśród młodych ludzi.

On the final day, a meeting with an HR specialist from Volkswagen Poznań took place, where topics such as the job market, job interviews, and self-presentation were discussed. A market trip to Osinów Dolny was held to observe the business and sales skills. The project concluded with a gala dinner at the Piastowska restaurant and the awarding of project completion certificates.

The project objectives included, among others:

  • developing participants' knowledge of the labor market,
  • helping young people find their own profession,
  • przygotowanie do prezentacji swojej osoby,
  • enabling you to learn about your strengths and weaknesses in relation to a given profession,
  • gaining knowledge about creating your own business,
  • developing knowledge about the culture of partner countries,
