Foreign professional internships for students of the Secondary School Complex in Chojna, Hungary
From May 25 to June 19, 2026, students and a graduate of the Secondary School Complex in Chojna participated in four-week international internships as part of the "International Educational Mobility of Students, Graduates, and Vocational Education Staff" project, financed by the European Funds for Social Development (FERS) program under the Erasmus+ program. The project was implemented by the Douzelage Association in Chojna.
The internship was held in the picturesque town of Kőszeg, Hungary. Students studying for their food service and hotel management technician degrees completed their internships at Kőszeg Lutheran High School and the Harangtorony Szálló, a hotel that caters to individual guests and organized groups, organizes family and business events, and promotes local culture and tourism.
Martyna Zawadzka, a 4th-grade student at the Faculty of Food and Nutrition, honed her skills in occupational health and safety, assessing food quality, applying technological processes in food production, using catering equipment, and operating catering services. She also developed her social and linguistic skills.
Maria Bednarz from class 4 TH gained experience in booking hotel services, serving guests at the reception, organizing hotel work and communicating in a foreign language, while also developing personal and social skills.
Students studying to become construction technicians – Wojciech Wojciechowski, Jakub Załeski, Sebastian Zielinkiewicz from class 4 TB and graduate Dawid Gil – completed their internships at Szárnyas Kft., one of the leading construction companies in the Kőszeg region, specializing in comprehensive construction and renovation of buildings.
During their internship, they honed their skills in organizing finishing work, performing earthworks and construction, and adhering to occupational health and safety regulations. They also developed their social and linguistic skills.
The stay in Hungary was not only an opportunity to gain professional experience, but also to learn about the history, culture and traditions of the region. The participants took part in a rich cultural program, which included, among others: visiting the monuments of the city of Kőszeg with a guide - Mrs. Magdalena Siwiec, walking along the Way of the Cross to the Kalwaria Hill, admiring the city panorama and visiting the Calvary Church.
The students also participated in a trip to the Kőszeg Mountains, learning about the region's unique flora and fauna, visiting the Sulejman viewpoint and the Trianon Cross monument. They also visited the most important monuments in the surrounding town of Szombathely, including the Cathedral of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the market square with the Holy Trinity Column, the Dominican Church of St. Martin, and the Vasi Open-Air Museum, where they learned about Hungarian village life in centuries past.
The hiking trip to the Hétforrás spring, located near the Austrian border, was very popular, as was the Kőszegi Kisvonat funicular, during which participants visited the most beautiful spots in the area, including Szabó Hill, the cellars in Cák, the Chapel of St. Vid, and numerous springs and viewpoints.
The stay in Hungary was also an opportunity to experience the flavors of traditional Hungarian cuisine, integrate with the locals and staff of the host institutions, and make new friends. Udział w projekcie pozwolił młodzieży połączyć zdobywanie doświadczenia zawodowego z poznawaniem innej kultury, rozwijaniem samodzielności, kompetencji językowych i społecznych oraz budowaniem otwartości na europejską współpracę.
The culmination of the international mobility was the ceremonial presentation of certificates to the participants, confirming the achievement of all the objectives set out in the internship program. The documents received are not only a confirmation of the acquired professional, linguistic, and social skills, but also a valuable asset that will undoubtedly increase their chances in the job market and will be an important element of their further educational and professional development.
