Foreign professional internships for students of the Secondary School Complex in Chojna, Romania
Professional internships in Romania as part of the "International Educational Mobility of Students, Graduates, and Vocational Education Staff" project, co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund+, under the European Funds for Social Development 2021-2027 Programme, implemented under the principles of the Erasmus+ Programme – Short-Term Internships. The beneficiary of the activity was the Douzelage Association in Chojna.
Students of the Secondary School Complex in Chojna, studying to become programmer technicians, hotel technicians and car mechanics, completed a four-week vocational internship in Siret (Romania) from May 1 to 26, 2026.
Mateusz Bresiński, a student of class 3PI and a programming technician, and Julia Kubowicz, a student of class 4PI and a programming technician, completed their professional internship at Scoala Gimnaziala "Petru Musat".
Students Jakub Skiba (3 PMW) and Antoni Iskra (3 PMW), studying to be car mechanics, had an internship at the SC Total Plus SRL passenger car repair and servicing workshop.
Students of class 3 TH, hotel management technicians, Lena Jońca and Julia Złotorzyńska completed an internship at the four-star hotel and restaurant The Frontier Hotel.
The internships were implemented in accordance with the Agreement on the Programming of Educational Activities as part of Mobility Funded by FERS under the Erasmus+ Program, signed by the sending and receiving organizations. During their internship abroad, the students received substantive support from internship supervisors from the receiving institutions. The sending organization was the Douzelage Association in Chojna, which implemented the activities based on an agreement with the Secondary School Complex in Chojna.
The supervisor accompanying the students during the internship was Janusz Cezary Salamończyk, a teacher from the Primary School in Chojna.
The trip to Romania began on April 29th with an overnight stay in Satu Mare, Romania. The following day, the students were accommodated at The Frontier Hotel in Siret. The hotel interns prepared breakfast and coffee, served meals in the dining room, and catered for events. The auto repair shop interns performed diagnostics and repairs on motor vehicles, replacing components such as filters, tires, and steering rods and their ends. They also maintained order in the workplace. Mateusz Bresiński and Julia Kubowicz, who worked at the school, assisted with computer maintenance in the computer labs. They also repaired computer equipment, prepared interactive whiteboards for use, created web applications, collaborated with the computer science teacher, assisted with classes, and recorded a promotional video for the school.
During their stay in Romania, a cultural program was held during their free time. Tibi Rotaru, representative of the Douzelage association in Siret, guided the students through the historic city of Siret, a blend of many cultures. They visited sites such as the Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the medieval cemetery, and the Jewish asylum.
On Saturday, May 9, the students visited Sucevița Monastery. This defensive structure with a painted church dedicated to the Resurrection is located in Sucevița, Bukovina, Romania. The church is one of the last painted churches in Bukovina and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2010. The students also had the opportunity to visit the town of Rădăuți twice, where a market was held and they could sample the local cuisine. On Sunday, May 10, and Sunday, May 17, they took trips to Suceava, which included shopping at a shopping mall and a dog show. On Thursday, May 14, the students had the opportunity to visit the Siret Historical Museum, where they viewed Stone Age artifacts and learned about the fate of the Jews of Siret during the Holocaust. On Saturday, May 23, the students visited another monastery, Voronet, dedicated to St. George, where they purchased souvenirs. This site has also been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
On Saturday, May 23rd, the interns visited the salt mine in the village of Cacica. The village is known for its large Polish community. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built by Poles, boasts a statue of Pope John Paul II in front of it. On May 22nd, the interns completing their internship at Scoala Gimnaziala "Petru Musat" watched talented young people perform at the Siret Community Center. They were able to admire various instruments, dance, sing, and ballet.
